4 Reasons Religious Nuts Need to Get Over Equal Marriage

One of the most disgusting characteristics of American religious hardliners is their hypocrisy. These dimwits do nothing more than give the rest of Christianity a bad name.

The same-sex marriage debate is an excellent example. These splinter groups of religious hate-mongers claim that the Federal government should step in and forbid people to enter into civil unions that gives them basic rights that every citizen should be able to enjoy. But God-forbid if that same government goes ahead and tries to implement a healthcare system that would make it possible for low income women to attain birth control through their employer’s insurance policy—now that would be an infringement on religious freedom.

1. It Does Not Undermine Religion

Homo Sex Sin

I am still waiting for the day that one man kissing another causes the Vatican to be flooded by the righteous waters of God, Yellowstone to blow up in fiery brimstone, and just cause about anything else than a kiss.

If anything, the overly critical stance that conservative Christians have had towards non-heterosexuals’ rights has caused the religion to lose respect and followers among our generation. This is a fact that even Pope Francis has now picked up on. As one of its first religious leaders, he is moving the Catholic Church into a new direction by saying that he cannot judge other people’s sexual attraction.

Bottom Line: If you believe that equal marriage will somehow hurt you, your church, or your children, then you are as fanatically idiotic as the preacher who visited campus this week to teach us how genitalia functions.

2. Children Will Benefit

GM2

This argument is as simple as the YouTube video that ripped to pieces the notion that “gay parents produce gay children.” Because, you know, straight parents only ever have straight children. Sexual attraction is not something that is taught and it is absolutely not something that you just choose to do one day.

Further, it is despicable that bible-thumpers pretend that same-sex couples are some sexual deviants. For the love of God, stop connecting sex and children. It is disgusting.

All that aside, equal marriage will only make it easier for foster children, orphans, and other disadvantaged kids to find loving parents. If anyone is perverting the issue, it is the religious nuts. Seriously, get you mind out of the gutter—at least when we are talking about kids.

3. Equal Marriage = Equal Rights

GM4

Remember when Whites pretended that God somehow punished Blacks with the color of their skin? Remember when we used religion to commit an astronomical number of atrocities to an entire group of people? If you don’t, look no further, because discriminating people based on their sexual preferences is just as nauseating.

First, nobody gave you the right to talk about other persons’ sex lives. Stop being so damn nosy. Second, it is one thing to be hateful; it is another to make legislative decision based on this hate. Just as it was inevitable that racial hate was revealed for the disgusting thing it is, so will hate against sexual orientation see a day of reckoning. Third, how about you follow your own doctrine, and that of your savior, and share some love. Where is all this hate for your fellow American citizen coming from?

4. Separation of Church and State

Church and StateSince we are already on the throwback-train, let’s all remember who founded the U.S.: a bunch of religious outcasts from the UK.

Just like those original Americans opposed how their government oppressed them economically and religiously, so do modern day Americans oppose a repressive Federal regime. Hardcore conservatives and libertarians alike ought to be die-hard supporters of equal marriage. Not only does it keep the Feds out of interfering with religion, but it also gives individuals more freedom and power of choice.

This freedom logically also applies to churches. If your church happens to be a bunch of spiteful, soldier and “fag” hating Westboro Baptists, that’s fine—that is your freedom of choice. But as long as you have that freedom, you need to also respect that same-sex couples deserve the right to get married as established under the government and…NOT. YOUR. CHURCH.
