This past Friday participants of the Pokes track team shattered multiple records in the heat of competition in Boulder.

Erin Kirby ran a close to personal best of 58.96 in the 400-meter, this blazing time helped Kirby climb the ranks and ended her with the No.2 fastest time in the Mountain West only behind her personal best.

“I’m really happy with our last two days,” head coach Brian Berryhill said. “Our kids performed extremely well across the board. Every event area did a very good job. We put them under some adversity with the travel and back-to-back competitions, which can be mentally draining, but they responded well.”

Graduate students Harry Fisher and Thomas Atkinson went back to back at the top in the 800 meters on Saturday with times of 1:48.31 and 1:49.08, respectively. Fisher’s new record put him second in Cowboy’s history. Atkinson’s time was a personal best as well and places him sixth in UW history, just shy of freshman Ricky Faure’s 1:48.87 on Friday. Lance Loken also brought a top-10 record with a 48.38 in the 400-meters.

Senior Colin Herold and junior Dylan Morin both brought wins for Wyoming. Herold ran the 110-meter hurdles in 14.39 and Morin ran the 3000-meter in 8:24.

Wyoming’s next event, at Mt. SAC, was suspended at last update and the team will not be traveling.
