Defendants face drug charges

Nip Tran Ha and Gabriel Pierce are scheduled to appear in court this morning to hear the sentencing decisions on two drug charges.

Ha was arrested on July 8th and was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, Methamphetamine, according to court documents.

Ha was pulled over for a traffic stop for going 85 mph in a 75 mph zone. The officer performed a license check and determined that Ha had an active warrant out of Laramie County for failing to appear on a citation, according to court documents.

During a search, the officer found a small clear baggie of suspected methamphetamine in crystalline form in the lower right side of Ha’s pants pocket. A NIK test confirmed the baggie contained meth, according to court documents.

Ha has at least two prior convictions for possession of controlled substances.

Pierce was arrested on June 20 for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.

Police where dispatched to Pierce’s residence, responding to a domestic disturbance in which a male subject was overheard yelling threats of violence, according to court documents.

On arrival, the officers were informed that another man was located in the house. Pierce and his brother-in-law, Jeff Guinn, were asked to exit the house so the officer could perform a protective sweep, due to the domestic violence call involving a female.

Pierce said that there was not a domestic disturbance but rather that Guinn had confronted Pierce about some stolen gas, both confirmed this story, according to court documents.

However, before entering the residence, the officer was informed that another male, Todd Cudlipp was inside. Cuplipp was also asked to leave the residence. Pierce told the officer that he had a marijuana pipe in plain site on his dresser. Cudlipp stated he had a plastic bag containing marijuana and several needles down stairs on his bed, according to court documents.

During to protective search, the officer observed two hash wax containers on the floor of Pierce’s room. No other persons were occupying the room, according to court documents.
