Suspect charged with murder

Trevor Lee Sanford was charged with the second-degree murder of his Grandmother-in-law, Marilyn Dlugosh.

Sanford was arrested last week in Westminster, Colorado where he is currently being detained. Dluglosh’s body was found at her residents after police received a call of a female subject lying face down inside the front door of her residence, according to court documents.

EMT’s confirmed that she was dead and the County Coroner found the cause of death to be blunt force trauma. When authorities arrived at the scene of the crime they found a large amount of dried blood around the victim’s body. A hammer and a knife with dried blood on them were found beside the victim’s body, according to court documents.

Authorities contacted Robert Page, who identified the body as his mothers. Page told authorities that he Sanford had been living with Dlugosh, according to court documents.

Dlugosh’s vehicle, a 2003 Ford Explorer, was missing from her residence. Page stated that he had not been able to contact Sanford and the last time he was able to contact Dlugosh but the text he received back from Dlugosh did not seem like something she would say, according to court documents.

Sanford was incarcerated prior for being pursued in a high-speed chase when police contacted him at Dlugosh’s residents, according to court documents.

A ping on the victims cell phone determined that Dlugosh’s phone was at a residence in Thornton, Colorado. A SWAT team raided the residents but did not find Sanford, according the press release.

Sanford was later arrested in the proximity of 120th North Avenue and Delaware Street. Police have not commented on what lead them to Sanford, according to the press release.
