Ways to celebrate love in Laramie

Whether with a friend, a roommate, or a significant other, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate relationships.

Valentine’s Day in Laramie is no different. There are several options for going out with all sorts of price ranges.

Dinner and a movie has been the “classic date” for decades, but what about breakfast? The 17th St. Café is a locally owned breakfast and lunch cafe. 17th Street has some of the best homemade food in town (seriously, try their French toast).

While there may be some difficulty finding a parking space near this little restaurant, once you are inside, you will love it. This small diner is perfect for an intimate, fun and original date.

If French toast and a hearty breakfast does not pique your interest, then consider satisfying a sweet tooth.

The Big Dipper Ice Cream Shop, located at 111 E Ivinson St offers a wide variety of creamy delights, including gelato, sorbetto, and ice-cream. Named the best ice cream parlor in Wyoming according to “Best Things Wyoming,” The Big Dipper is sure to impress any partner.

For many couples, going out and sitting down over something consumable is not their cup of tea. If this sounds like you, you will love Helio’s Trio.

Helio’s Trio will perform at the University of Wyoming Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. tonight. This concert will feature piano, cello and violin music. This romantic and enticing performance will be open to the public and entirely free.

Freshman Jannelle Ordiway has a different idea. She’s been looking forward to the 7220 Poetry Slam for a few weeks now.

“My boyfriend will probably come with, but I’m just excited to spend some time with a gaggle of buddies,” Ordiway said. This will be the second poetry slam hosted by 7220 this academic year.

The Poetry Slam is free to attend and open to the community. 7220 will be offering refreshments as the night goes on. The Slam is being held in the Union Gardens on tonight at 8 p.m. This late start could allow for enough time to go out to dinner beforehand.

For those of you looking for something a little out of the ordinary, Pop Up Paint Party located at 217 S. 3rd Street, has a solution for you. Tonight at 7 p.m., Pop Up Paint Party will be hosting a “Couple Paint.” Perfect for any couple, friends or roommates, provides all of the materials necessary to paint a beautiful piece to call your own will be provided.

“Couple Paint” is a guided painting class in which you and your partner paint two halves of the whole canvas.

“Each person paints their side of their own canvas and at the end they go together to make one big, long painting,” Sherrodd said. “This guided class allows for more flexibility than is often found in painting classes because couples can choose their design. “They can pick what they want to paint, and I’m here to help,” assured Sherrodd. “It’s about relaxing at getting comfortable with the paint,” Sherrodd said.
