How To Spend a Day in Laramie in the Winter

A guide for new students and holiday shoppers

Laramie winters can be brutal for many, especially out-of-state students or students who may not be fans of winter outdoors.

For students like this, do not discount the wonderful Laramie downtown. The snow may pause a lot of activities, but downtown still provides a variety of businesses and events for college students and the larger Laramie community.

Start your day by checking out the shops that Laramie downtown has to offer.

Be sure to check out local shops to get your holiday shopping done while supporting the community! The Bent & Rusty, located at 308 S 2nd St, provides a variety of unique gifts perfect for Poke fans!      

For the crafter in your life, look no further than Cowgirl Yarn, located at 119 E Ivinson Ave,! This cozy shop is a perfect place to duck in from the cold and buy supplies for a new winter pastime.

Stock up for your outdoor adventures at Atmosphere Mountain Works at 210 S 2nd St! With high-quality goods made right here in Laramie, you are sure to find a new signature item of clothing for this cold winter!

Don’t be afraid to go window shopping or stop in new stores you have not checked out before! Laramie offers a vibrant downtown with new and staple businesses around every corner. If you search around, you’re sure to find what you are looking for or even find something you never knew you would have wanted.

Warm up with a hot drink from Night Heron Bookstore at 107 E Ivinson Ave,. This café and bookstore offers delicious drinks, tasty pastries, and used books (including textbooks). Show up on open mic nights (most Wednesdays) and participate in a night of community and creativity in a cozy environment.

If you’re of age, head down to Bond’s Brewing located at 411 S 2nd St, for their trivia and tacos night every Tuesday from 5:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. Stimulate your mind and please your stomach on these nights of fun and food!

Treat yourself and some friends to a dinner at one of the many delicious downtown restaurants that Laramie has to offer! Check out Alibi (404 S 4th St.) for some artisanal pizza slices or head down to the Crowbar and Grill (202 S 2nd St.) and grab a hamburger. Both of these classic Laramie restaurants offer a welcoming atmosphere and great food you are sure to love!

Bejo Dua, located at 213 Grand Ave. offers more than just egg rolls; they provide a variety of sushi, ramen, and a comfortable sit-down experience.

To end the night, make sure to grab a dessert! It’s never too cold for ice cream! Head down to 111 E Ivinson Ave. for The Big Dipper. This ice-cream shop offers a variety of both unique and classic flavors, so you can either stick to the classics or branch out into new ones.
