Three Apps to Keep Up on Local Events

Scout Maps

By pairing a chat system with a GPS, this app is perfect for setting up an impromptu meet up. Scout Maps connects with your phone’s contact list, as well as your Facebook friends, thus allowing you to send out invitations for any sort of social gathering. Then, by inputting the address, Scout Maps will send your guests directions straight to the party. You can also send updates to everybody at the same time using the imbedded chat function.

Eventbrite

This app is perfect for keeping you informed on any events going on in town. Simply give Eventbrite your location and it will let you know what is going on in town now and in the near future. The app also gives you pricing information and the contact info for the event coordinator, just in case something catches your eye. In addition, Eventbrite gives you the option of signing in through Facebook so you’ll never miss a friend’s party again.

Bandsintown

Contrary to its name, Bandsintown doesn’t just tell you which bands are in your town. This app gives you the option of adjusting how far away you’re willing to travel, thus narrowing the number of search results that come up. When you first open Bandsintown, it will scan your music library so it can highlight your favorite bands (or any performers related to them). From there, you can buy tickets and let the world know you plan on attending through Facebook.
