Wyoming Athletics to partner with Opendorse

The University of Wyoming announced on Tuesday that it would partner with Opendorse, a Lincoln, Nebraska-based company specializing in NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) and athlete endorsements.

With this partnership, the University of Wyoming becomes one of the first 75 schools in the nation to establish a NIL marketplace.

Opendorse currently supports over 75,000 athletes who use it to help build and maintain their name, image, and likeness.

This partnership with the University of Wyoming will allow athletes to receive payment from fans, donors, sponsors, and other supporters through one specific platform built for that purpose.

This partnership comes in the wake of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Board of Directors’ decision to allow athletes to benefit from their name, image, and likeness in June of 2021.

This became official as of July 1 of last year. Athletes across all divisions can now receive compensation for their name, image, and likeness.

While some states do not yet have NIL laws in place, athletes can still benefit from their NIL in a state that has no law within specific NCAA rules and regulations.
