UniWyo gives back to community

Since 2017, UniWyo Credit Union has donated to a Wyoming based charity through their Charity Stripe program. This year, they have donated $3,960 to Black Dog Animal Rescue, giving $10 for every free throw made by the Cowboy’s basketball team in the 2022-2023 season.

“We started it because we wanted a way to give back to the community that revolved around the UW Cowboys,” said Desiree Sanchez, marketing specialist at UniWyo.

With so many different groups to support, it can be a tough choice picking a worthy charity to support.

“To select a charity, we usually have our whole marketing team get together and brainstorm charities that benefit the whole state or make a big impact.”

This year, UniWyo selected Black Dog Animal Rescue (BDAR), a nonprofit based in Cheyenne that also has foster homes in Laramie and Cheyenne.

“The mission of Black Dog Animal Rescue is to promote, provide, and advocate for the needs of companion animals,” says the animal shelter.

BDAR relies on people volunteering to foster pets for a short period of time before they can be adopted.

“Our adoption program is foster-home based, which means that all of our adoptable animals live off-site with a volunteer foster family. Thanks to awesome people like you, we’re able to continue our mission of saving the lives of cats and dogs every single day.”

In the past, they have supported the Wyoming Hunger Initiative, Jason’s Friends Foundation, Climb Wyoming, and Make-A-Wish Wyoming. In total, UniWyo has given over $23,000 to help support communities around Wyoming.
