Wyoming hangs on for victory over San Jose State

Four Pokes scored double digits and Kenny Foster made a return to the court last night, with the Pokes fending off the San Jose State Spartans to win 80-75. The Cowboys regain a winning record overall at 13-12 and move to 6-6 in the conference.

Wenzel, Kot, Griffin, and Walters scored a bulk of the Cowboy’s points, and were all in double digits, with Griffin leading the way and scoring 21. Caden Powell rounded out the group of players over 20 minutes in the contest and also put up 6.

Excitingly, Kenny Foster made a return to the hardwood only 133 days after going down with an achilles injury last year. He played over 12 minutes and put up 2 points, the culmination of a long road to recovery. “It takes a year  to recover and he stepped on the floor four months later and all he wants to do is be out there,” said coach Linder. “For Kenny to do that is incredible and tells you what kind of person he is and I’m so proud,” he said.

Tied at 70 with a little under 3 minutes to play, Walters made three straight clutch shots and Griffin sunk 4 free throws to bring the win home.

The Pokes head to Nevada for a late night tilt this Tuesday, with the game tipping off at 9 P.M.
