Football able to pull out last second win over Wofford

It might not have been the prettiest game, but Wyoming was able to defeat FCS opponent Wofford by a score of 17-14 in Laramie.

Wyoming would take the lead off a Cooper Rothe field goal midway through the second quarter that was set up off a fumble that was recovered my Sidney Malaluulu. Wofford would answer immediately with an 8 play 7- yard drive for a touchdown.

Wyoming would regain the lead before halftime thanks to a 6-yard pass from Tyler Vander Wall to Tyree Mayfield that capped off an 11 play 75-yard drive. This would be Vander Waal’s first touchdown this season and of his career. Wyoming would lead at halftime 10-7.

Wofford would retake the lead early in fourth quarter off a 4-yards rush by Joe Newman. Wyoming would be driving down the field and get to the Wofford 16-yard line. Vander Waal would drop back to pass but would be hit from behind as he threw, and his pass would be intercepted.  There would be 3:25 left in the game

The Wyoming defense would be able stop the Wofford offense and Wyoming would regain possession on their own 20-yard line. There would be only 1:59 left in the game and Wyoming would be out of timeouts.

Vander Waal would lead Wyoming down the field and find Rocket Ismail Jr. for a 9-yard touchdown retaking the lead 17-14 with 17 seconds left in the game.

Wofford would attempt to pass the ball down field, but it would be intercepted by Wyoming ending the game in a Wyoming victory.

Vander Waal would lead the Wyoming offense with 25-42 passing for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns. Redshirt Freshman Xazavian Valladay would lead the rushing effort with 57 yards on 15 attempts.

Wyoming will have bye week next week and will be back in action on September 29 when they face off against conference foe Boise State at 5 p.m. in War Memorial Stadium.
