Mountain West football games to be televised

The Mountain West Conference has announced numerous regional telecasts for the upcoming 2012 football schedule, four of which will feature UW football games.

The first game will be televised on Oct. 13 as Wyoming hosts a home game against Air Force. The second will be an away game on Oct. 20 against Fresno State.

The remaining two home games also will be televised. The Cowboys play on Nov. 3 against Colorado State and again on Nov. 24 against San Diego State.

ROOT Sports will televise the Air Force, Fresno State and SDSU games. KTVD Channel 20 from Denver will broadcast the Border War against CSU.

CBS Sports Network selected Wyoming’s game against Boise State to be nationally televised. With the addition of the regional telecasts, five of Wyoming’s eight Mountain West games will air this season.

Two additional road games also could be televised back to Wyoming. The potential telecasts include the Nov. 10 game against New Mexico and the Nov. 17 game against UNLV.  This would give Cowboys fans the opportunity to watch seven of the eight conference games on television this season.

With the release of the additional regional telecasts, ROOT Sports issued a press release highlighting its commitment to covering Mountain West football in the 2012 season. ROOT Sports also will be covering Mountain West members such as Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico and Hawaii.

“We are excited to bring Mountain West football games to our viewers this season,” ROOT Sports Senior Vice President and General Manager Tim Griggs said in a press release. “With the addition of these 10 games from a high-caliber Football Bowl Subdivision conference, we continue to stress our commitment to bringing the best regional sports programming to our audience.”

Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson also commented on the new relationship establishment with ROOT Sports for the upcoming season.

“Several of our member institutions’ footprints mesh well with the ROOT Sports territory,” he said in a press release. “We look forward to high-quality telecasts on what will be a great platform for Mountain West football this season.”
