After an impressive weekend continuing its fall season, the Cowgirl tennis team finally wrapped up its weekend with a singles and doubles title on Saturday at the BYU Invitational.

Senior Simona Synkova claimed the White bracket title with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over McKenzie Davis of Utah State, according to the Wyoming Athletics department.

“I would like to congratulate Simona with her dominating performance all weekend,” said head coach Dean Clower. “This was a good start for the team as we are going in the right direction. The team will enjoy this and continue to get better with practice next week.”

During other singles action, Jessica Parizher and Silviya Zhelyazkova battled it out during the final consolation rounds. Parizher beat Julie Tukuafu in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 12-10, while Zhelyazkova earned a spot in the finals with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mackenna Maddox of BYU. In their final match of the day Parizher defeated Zhelyazkova in one set, 6-3, according to UW Athletics.

In doubles, Synkova took home her second title of the day. She and her partner Veronica Popovici defeated Meghan Sheehan-Dizon and Desiree Tran as they won in a match ending with a score of 8-3.

Wyoming will return to playing again in the next couple of weeks.  Synkova and Popovici will be at the Rivera/ITA All-American Championships, which will be held Oct. 4-7.

The event will take place in Pacific Palisades, Calif. During that time, the rest of the team will participate in the Air Force Invitational on Oct. 5-7, in Colorado Springs.
