UW students Logan and Joey cheer for Cowgirls volleyball Saturday night as the team took on Nevada. The UW Stampede is an organization that rewards UW student fans for attending home games.

Many students on campus are members of the University of Wyoming Stampede. However, there are still many more who do not know about it. The stampede is an organization that goes to every home game for every sport the university offers.

The Stampede is known for its dedication. Some Stampede members have been known to camp out before games and others get to games hours ahead of time. But all Stampede members will stay till the bitter end of the game to show their dedication and support, no matter what the scoreboard says.

Members pay a fee and receive a T-shirt that they wear to games and a rewards card brought to every game. The rewards card is scanned and members build up points for the Brown and Gold store. They also are eligible for promotions and giveaways at the games.

Different sporting events earn members different numbers of points. Football is two points. Basketball, volleyball and wrestling are all three points. Cross-country, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis or track and field earn members four points.

More points turns into more dollars at Brown and Gold, which gives members more money to spend on UW gear.

The Stampede also has a pre-game student tailgate presented by Quiznos and Campus Habitat at all home football games this year in Pepsi’s Tailgate Park. Food and drinks are provided by Quiznos. Members age 21 and older can get beer, and the festivities start two and a half hours before the game. There also are promotions and entertainment.

Members of Stampede are all university students. Any student can sign up online or at any home athletic event where there is a stampede tent. The Stampede tent is located at Gate 3 at football games, outside portal 18 at basketball games and inside during other sports events.
