After last week’s game at Air Force and Coach Christensen’s one-week suspension, Assistant Coach Kaligis is filling in for tomorrow afternoon’s home game against Boise State at 1:30 p.m.

In the current Mountain West Conference Standings, the Cowboys are at 0-3 while the Boise State Broncos are first in the league with 3-0. Out of the six losses that the Cowboys have received overall, four of those have been lost with less than a touchdown score difference. The other two have been lost in less than a field goal point difference.

Last year, with Boise State as host, the Cowboys led the first quarter with a 7-0 lead. While Boise State did end up coming back at halftime and winning the game, this year the team seems to be struggling in the second half offensively.

Boise State is still averaging only 26.1 points per game, with the majority of those points scored in the first half. If the games were dependent on the second half alone, the Broncos would not be sitting at 6-1 on the season.

So far this year the Cowboys have thrown eight interceptions. Nine fumbles have occurred, but only three were recovered by the defensive opponent. Being that Boise State is No. 2 in the nation for turnovers gained, the Cowboys definitely need to be strategic in passing and running the football.

Quarterback Joe Southwick of Boise State has thrown five interceptions and only has nine touchdown passes to counter that. Boise State has also surrendered six fumbles this year.

Key players on the Cowboys include Quarterback Brett Smith throwing 273 passing yards each game and wide receiver Chris McNeill who ranks third in the league with 65.7 receiving yards per game. Defensive tackle Mike Purcell and linebackers Ghaali Muhammad and Korey Jones are also having incredible seasons this fall.

Saturday’s game has been designated Cancer Awareness Day. Fans are being offered a special $40 ticket package including a Commemorative Pink Rally Towel. $5 from each ticket page will be donated to the Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care. Rally towels will also be sold at the Brown-N-Gold Outlet will for $5 donating $1 from each sale to the Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care.

The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network available on Channel 613 on DIRECTV and Channel 158 on DISH Network. The Cowboy Sports Network radio broadcast will begin at 12:30 p.m. before kickoff at 1:30 p.m.
