The Associated Students of the University of Wyoming discussed their financial policy revisions at Tuesday’s meeting.

Senate bill 2394: Finance Policy Revisions includes funding for Registered Student Organizations. The RSO Funding Board has an annual cap of $5,000 for requests per RSO.

However, in order to receive funding an RSO must follow the Finance Policy. An RSO can obtain up to $5,000 throughout the fiscal year by separately requesting money from the Funding Board for multiple events, as long as the awarded funds do not collectively go over the capped amount.

All of the RSO requests are reviewed by the Funding Board and will only entertain requests totaling an amount greater than $5,000 if the RSO has raised 30 percent of every dollar requested over the $5,000 cap.

“If the RSO Funding Board awards thousands of dollars to any one RSO, the RSO better have the ability and time to read a paragraph to understand the stipulations they must follow in order to access funding from ASUW,” ASUW Director of Finance Chris Haakinson said.

Senate Bill 2394 is still open for discussion at time of press.
