Campus construction set for Fall completion

The Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center continues to undergo construction. The building is projected to be completed in the Fall of this year.

Construction on campus continues while the semester rolls on:

-Grand Avenue reconstruction will begin Monday from 15th to 21st street. Businesses will still be accessible during construction. Sheridan Street is the designated detour from 15th to 21st street. Signalized pedestrian crossings will be positioned on 19th street and every other street between 15th and 21st.

-Restoration is being performed in Coe Library to reverse damage from a burst pipe. Belfor Inc. is focusing their restoration work around IT closets on all floors of the 70’s addition. Belfor is also finishing up restoration work in the Health Sciences Pharmacy Wing.

-Construction crews have largely completed the foundations and structure being erected on the expansions of Half Acre Gym and the Performing Arts Center.

-Exterior stone and windows are in place on most of the exterior of the Gateway Center and the building is mostly enclosed. Drywall installation and finish work is in progress. The UW Foundation is in charge of management for the project which is scheduled for completion in fall 2014.

-The Arena Auditorium subcontracts are being bid on by Haselden Construction for the project on Feb. 21.

-Plans for a high-bay research center are being discussed. 25-foot ceilings are the main feature of the research center. It has the purpose of studying rocks with a vertical CT scanner which was mentioned in an article from the Laramie Boomerang.

-Construction on the Enzi STEM Facility’s foundations and drilled caissons is underway. The project is being managed by the Construction Management Division of the Wyoming Department of Administration and Information.
