BI Bops: The sounds of spring

It’s finally, mostly, spring. The birds are chirping, the grass is growing, the trees are blossoming and then a freak snowstorm comes through and kills all of the trees’ progress. Spring in Laramie is a unique condition that requires a little extra oomph to carry on in hope that at some point the snow and wind will stop and sunshine will persevere. It’s a time of reawakening the hopes and dreams that died in the cold and bitter Wyoming winter.

Of course, spring is not only literally a time of blooming and rebirth, it’s also symbolic. People are busy shedding their relationships and past versions of themselves similar to butterflies coming out of a cocoon; if butterflies lived in the library and would do anything for free food. Poetic right? There’s a little bit of loss and sadness involved but there’s mostly a lot of upbeat fun and the promises of the future, this obviously requires a soundtrack.

Thus, I present to you a playlist of 20 songs to help carry you through these final weeks of the semester and our beautiful Wyoming “spring.” From the first feel-good beats of Hellogoodbye’s “(Everything Is) Debatable” to the closing notes of Two Door Cinema Club’s “Changing of the Seasons,” you’ll be sure to be getting to class with an extra spring in your step regardless of the weather.

Bonus points if you dance unashamedly in public.
