Laramie to celebrate fall with festival

For many people fall can seem like a dreary prelude to the cold winter months, but Laramie Foster Closet is going to make sure that the Laramie community enjoys themselves before that happens. This weekend on Saturday, Sept. 29, they are hosting the Punkin’ Chunkin’ and Harvest Fall Festival for all those who wish to enjoy themselves with various competitions and games before the annual freeze. It will start at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m., so there will be plenty of time to check out the festival throughout the day.

Laramie Foster Closet is a faith-based children’s organization in Laramie that provides support services for foster families in Laramie. Through their faith, family model approach and committed service, they are dedicated to providing support for children in our area that are in custody of the state. Their primary goal is to provide these foster families with clothes while also providing things such as a community, sports equipment and after school activity scholarships.

Continuing their support for the community, the Laramie Foster Closet will be providing many forms of fun at this year’s festival. The fun will include games, crafts, photo booths and a pumpkin patch. Vendors will also be at the festival. There will be something for everyone to enjoy and all are welcome. It will only cost $5 for everyone ages 5 and up.

Included in this is the classic pumpkin throwing contests for which the Punkin’ Chunkin’ name comes from. There will be mini-gourd chucking as well as the main pumpkin chucking contest. Other events are happening as well such as a pie-eating and pumpkin baking contest and will result in a prize giveaway of about $2,000 in value.

This will surely be an event to not miss this fall and will set a tone of fun for the rest of the season. The festival will also act as a fundraiser Laramie Foster Closet in their pursuit of providing support for all of our local children in foster care, so make sure to come have fun while helping out the community.

Remember that it is $5 for all attendees ages 5 and up and is all day this Saturday.
