Well Pokes, this semester has come to an end and we made it.

This semester has brought us a lot of fun. The football team had a successful year, and the volleyball team has made it to post conference. Another highlight was that we got an extra long Thanksgiving break, thanks to the arrival of a nasty snow storm. To make this semester just as great, we have complied tips, tricks, and advice from current students, to make spring semester easier for you.

We all know the spring semester is harder to get through than the fall semester.

The first tip is to acknowledge when you need to get help and to go to your professor’s office hours as soon as possible. If you are struggling and you know that you are struggling, do not wait until the last minute. The second tip is to make sure that you go to your advisor for help when picking out classes.

“[A] good advising session lead[s] to [a] great class selection, with [great] professors, that’s what kept me engaged,” said Kaite Costner, a freshman at the university.

The third tip is to stay up to date on your homework. Staying up to date on your homework is important so you can not only understand what is happening in class, but so you can also gauge what you do and don’t know. As many of us know, tests can sneak up on us at any time, and it’s important to be prepared.

The fourth tip is to make time for yourself. A 2014 study by the Draugiem Group, a social networking company, showed that most employees work at their most productive when they work for 52 minutes, and then take a 17 minute break. So why not apply this to student life? You can go to the gym, sleep or watch Netflix to de-stress.

“Sleep has gotten me through most of my college career. Sleep helps me out more than I thought,” said Rachel Jorgenson, a junior at the university.

Whatever you choose to do, do it for yourself and enjoy doing it. Do not force yourself to do something that you know you wont like. This includes doing things with other people. If you do not want to hang out with other people, do not be afraid to say no.

There are so many tips and tricks we could give you to get you through college but the best advice we can give you is simple. Find what works for you and run with it. Make the good habits early and stick to them. College will be so much easier if you start things off from the ground running, instead of waiting for things to happen.
