From Photographer to Editor

My time at the Branding Iron has been one of the best experiences in my college career. I began work for the Branding Iron in Spring 2019 as a photographer and quickly worked my way up to a visual editor. That growth has taught me so much, and as a journalism major, I feel prepared to enter the professional field of journalism.

I made so many friends at this publication, and I will never forget the amazing time I was able to spend with them. Though my time here felt too short, I will always look back on it with a smile. I hope that those interested in working for the paper step up and do it. You will not regret the experience or the friends this job has to offer.

As a freshman, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I would never have expected to end up at the Branding Iron. I genuinely wish I would have started at the paper sooner. The opportunities as a photographer have helped develop my love and interest, even showing me the career I truly want to pursue when I graduate from this amazing university.

I really want to say thank you to the staff of the Branding Iron. I have learned so much from all of you and hope I provided the same. I will miss the ridiculous conversations in the office and the late nights with fellow editors. I know that the past few months have been tough, and we’ve gone through some drastic changes, but I know the Branding Iron will live and come back in the fall stronger than ever.

So here, I say goodbye to an amazing group of people who have taught me so much. I say goodbye to the University of Wyoming, my home for the past four years. Thank you, Branding Iron, for everything you have given me.
