7220 hosts Grab & Go events for students

7220 Entertainment is a student-fee funded program that normally hosts student events such as concerts, bingo nights, film festivals and lectures. 7220 Entertainment is now having “Grab & Go” activities where students take home a craft to do in their free time.

“This is a free event for students to partake in this semester since we are not doing in-person events. 7220 Entertainment has given away mugs, t-shirts, bullet journals, decorate your own masks, and word art,” said Aliea Ednie, 7220 Entertainment Club Events Coordinator.

At each event, 7220 Entertainment gives away 50 craft kits.

“Usually there is something always free–whether its food, or t-shirts, or on bingo night a chance to win prizes,” said Bailey Vogler, a Communications student.

Vogler went to the bullet journal Grab & Go event. “They had those free Wyoming planners and then they gave you different stencils and stickers. They were all a little different,” said Vogler.

7220 Entertainment also hosts events on Zoom, including Drag Bingo, trivia, escape rooms, film club, and a summoning spirits activity–though, students are not attending like they were before COVID-19.

“There are a lot less students because there’s less students on campus, there’s less students attending these events,” said Vogler.

“People don’t look for it; they’re not on campus to have their advertising everywhere so people hear about it more. They’re not in classes to hear about it,” said Vogler.

Vogler said she heard about 7220 Entertainment events through email and Instagram.

In the past, on-campus events with 7220 Entertainment were widely attended. Now, it is mostly students from resident halls attending the events.

“Bingo’s a really popular one,” said Vogler. “The whole ballroom in the upper floor of the Union was packed.”

Grab & Go events happen every Thursday night in the Union Family Room.

“Next week we will be giving away Rocky Horror Picture Show prop bags, scratch art craft kits, and cookies,” said Ednie.
