Daniel Furphy wins state senate district 10 seat

Republican candidate, Daniel Furphy, wins state senate seat over the democratic candidate, Jackie Grimes, for Wyoming.

“It was a fun campaign, mostly because the great people who worked with me and I’m amazed at the support I received from my constituents. They helped me a lot, both financially and the work they put in. I truly enjoyed this campaign. I give credit to my competition, Jackie, because we stayed present on the issues. She is eloquent and she’s a good thinker and I hope we can work together on mental health issues going forward,” said Furphy.

Furphy continued to say, “as for my priorities, the budget deficit we are facing at state level is my #1. What’s important to me, with my background in banking and background in economic development, is economic development. We need to make our minerals valuable again, stimulate new technologies, and create new jobs. We need to keep further cuts from happening to our school systems and the University, that’s a big issue for me at this point.”

Grimes responded to the Branding Iron’s request for comment, “I had made a promise to run at least three times, but this has been an exhausting year. I’m going to take some time to ground myself over, I don’t know if I can confirm a 2022 run.”

“The things I’d have done differently tie into what we did well. We had an ethically sound campaign in a pandemic, the health of volunteers and voters was important. I was lucky in this race, if I was going to lose to someone, I’m okay with losing to Dan. He’s a good human being and he crosses the aisle by doing well for people. I am hopeful for him being in the senate, that there will be more reasonable and pragmatic conversations to be had.”

Grimes wants to thank her volunteers and her voters, plus those who voted in general, for their turnout and their civil engagement for America.
