UW shotgun sports creating friendships despite COVID-19

The university Shotgun Sports Club is a team that competes with other collegiate teams and at the ACUI National Championship. Emily Sweet is the current Vice President of the Shotgun Sports Club.

“The shotgun club gives students the opportunity to compete in various shooting event, including trap and skeet, different variations of trap and skeet, sporting clays, and five stand,” Sweet said. “I think the best part of the club is getting to interact with so many people with one shared interest, shooting and having fun. We get to compete with schools from all over and I think a number of us have developed long distance friendships.”

According to Sweet, the team is growing, but COVID-19 has made it difficult to say how many people are on the team this year since there was no registration.

Sweet said, “My favorite memory so far has been my freshman year nationals. That trip was unforgettable, and the first time that I realized the team has become family to me.”
