Hello, readers of the Branding Iron! My name is Preston Harrison and I am the incoming Editor in Chief this fall for Student Media at UW. I am a transfer student from central Illinois studying Psychology. I am excited to have this incredible opportunity and I am anxious to begin making some changes to our publication. I have many new ideas for the Branding Iron, but most notably I would like to increase student involvement. I would also like to highlight sports more so than in the past and implement a focus on individual athletes themselves. Please share any feedback you have with us!
My name is L. Hoffman. This semester, I am serving as the Assistant Editor, where I help collect story ideas and distribute them among the team. These ideas can come from all corners of campus, from club organization features to policy and initiative implementation. My goal for the Branding Iron is to create and maintain a welcoming environment for all our staff and to ensure that students’ voices are heard. Outside of my position at BI, I am a Criminal Justice major with a double minor in Honors College and Sociology. So keep an eye out for the Student Media crew and share your voice with us!
Hello all, this is Raelyn Baker, and I am your Sports Editor for this season. I am a Junior studying Agricultural Communications and am excited about this position. As your Sports Editor at the Branding Iron, I hope to increase the diversity of the sports section. My plan to do that is by giving sports-related clubs and organizations a share in the spotlight with Athletics. Increasing the knowledge of what the University offers for each student’s individual interests is the biggest goal I have in mind for the Branding Iron this semester. I hope you all have an amazing start to your semester.
My name is Jayden Cornell and I am a Sophomore at the University of Wyoming this year. I am originally from Evanston, Wyoming. I love living in Laramie because of its incredible diversity and inclusivity. I am currently majoring in psychology with a focus on becoming a clinician. I am excited to be the online editor this year for the Branding Iron. My main goal in this position is to expand the outreach of the online publication while helping create a publication that strives for inclusivity and fairness. The media is a representation of those who consume it. I want to help create a publication that allows consumers to feel informed and represented.
