Cowgirls tennis beat Idaho State in home opener

Cowgirls Tennis defeated the University of Idaho with a 5-2 win at the UW Tennis Facility on Sat. Feb. 4. The duel was their first win of the season. 

The morning started with the doubles tournament. All three UW doubles teams defeated their Idaho competitors. 

Noesjka (pronounced Noosh-kah) Brink, and Nikol Dobrilova ended their match with a win against Annabel Davis and Rachelle Starreveld from Idaho, 6-1. 

Cowgirls Sophie Zeheder and Ana Fernandez won their match against their Idaho competitors, Lina Beckx and Valentina Rodas, 6-3 and also winning their doubles match by 3 points was Maria Oreshkina and Violetta Borodina who played Selin Sepken and Jayanne Palma.

The singles competition started later in the day. There were four matches going at once and they had a total of six players for the singles matches. Four Cowgirls won their matches, letting two Idaho players win their matches.  

Zeheder, Borodina, Brink, and Dobrilova won their matches, giving UW the win. 

The Cowgirls head to Mississippi next for a three-day tournament. The team’s next home match is on Feb. 18 against Metro State.
