Cowgirl soccer looks to finish season strong

The Wyoming Cowgirl Soccer team has had a very up and down season so far. They currently hold a record of 5-6-4, that being 5 wins, 6 losses, and 4 ties.

The Cowgirls’ 5 wins have come against Weber State, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Northern Colorado, North Dakota, and Mountain West opponent San Jose State. The Cowgirls excelled in non-conference play, as 4 out of their 5 wins have come from their non-conference schedule. The Cowgirls had a hot start to the season, as they didn’t drop any of their opening five games, winning 3 and tying 2.

The Cowgirls’ 6 losses have come at the hands of Idaho State and Mountain West opponents UNLV, Nevada, Boise State, Utah State, and Fresno State. The Cowgirls have been struggling in Mountain West conference play, as 5 out of their 6 losses have come since opening conference play, and the Cowgirls went on a four game losing streak to open conference play.

The Cowgirls have tied with the Colorado School of Mines, South Dakota, and Louisville. The Cowgirls recently tied in a match against Mountain West opponent Air Force earlier today.

The Cowgirls this season have recorded a .093 shot percentage, just slightly lower than their defensive percentage as Cowgirl opponents commonly shoot around .113 percent. The Cowgirls have scored 17 goals this season and have comparatively allowed 21 goals.

The Cowgirls still have three more conference games to try and improve their conference record, as well as a non-conference tilt against Colorado College this Sunday, with the game to kick off at 1 p.m.
