Fall on Prexy’s Pasture

Current & Future Events on Campus

With the leaves changing color and the air turning crisp, Prexy’s Pasture becomes a central spot for fall activities at the University of Wyoming. Students pass through on their way to class, stop to chat with friends, or take a moment to enjoy the events that go on in the area. It is a familiar place that feels even more inviting as autumn settles in.

On Monday, October 6, Prexy’s was turned into a puppy playdate! The men from Kappa Alpha Order partnered with the Laramie Animal Wellness Society (LAWS) to provide a set time for students on campus to come visit with puppies. There were several puppies that students could interact with and spend time with.

Kappa Alpha Order ran the event and spoke to those who stopped by about the fraternity’s mission and LAWS’ purpose in our community. The goal of this event was to make students aware of the animal shelter in Laramie, and to give students a break from the stress of exams; what better way to do that than with puppies!

This Tuesday, October 7, Student Success and Graduation organized a “Pumpkin Picasso Party” outside of the Rendezvous Cafe. As the name suggests, students gathered outside the cafe bundled up in fall attire, ready to paint bright, orange pumpkins and enjoy snacks with friends. The event was like a scene out of a cozy fall movie, and it is just the start of more fall fun at the University of Wyoming.

Later this month, there are several events for transfer students, including a “Transfer Swag Showcase”, where transfer students are asked to show up with swag from their previous college in exchange for brand new University of Wyoming gear. This event also helps students make new friends and celebrate this new chapter as a cowboy.

Transfer Success is also hosting a doughnut and cider event in beautiful Prexy’s. They are encouraging students to grab a doughnut and some hot cider to warm up this chilly season. This is another way to meet other transfer students and build a sense of community while enjoying the seasonal atmosphere. It is a simple, welcoming way to take a break, connect and feel more at home on campus.

Interested in hosting an event? The University of Wyoming also offers the ability to arrange outdoor events in the beautiful and now orange Prexy’s Pasture, the green areas around campus, and the fraternity/sorority mall. Equipment such as tables and chairs for the event can also be scheduled. Please contact Andrew Ohlschwager at aohlsch1@uwyo.edu or (307) 766-6717 for more information about setting up an event.
