OPINION: Minneapolis Strike

Commentary on the Spirit of America

On Jan 23, thousands of people took to the streets in a general strike in Minneapolis. They walked through the city in the freezing cold, frost covering their lashes and eyebrows. The people of the wanted the arrest of Jonathan Ross and the ICE officer that killed Renee Nicole Good, defunding and removal of ICE from the city.

This strike shows the power and unity of the people in this time of crisis with the federal government overstepping their bounds. Many feel abandoned or even betrayed by their representatives who are supposed to protect and serve the interests of their constituents.

The people of the country were convinced that their issues in affording their grocery prices and rent were caused by immigration rather than the cooperations and landlords responsible.  Now that the mass deportations have begun,

The murder of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Jeffery Pretti will wake more and more people up out of the MAGA induced coma as their humanity overrides the lies of the government.

The actions taken in Minneapolis shows the violence that the US has displayed on other countries are now cycling back to be used on its own people. People now realize the democrats are too weak to speak up and protect their constituents and will continue to speak up for themselves.

ICE moving out of Minneapolis is not enough. A reduction in harm after the harm has dramatically increased is not enough. Full solutions must be worked towards. ICE must be defunded, and the people need to keep protesting until they see the government working for the world the people want to live for.

The tides of national and global politics are turning. The rise of populism and nationalism are disrupting international balances that have been in place for decades. The left must get with the times and capture the energy of the people and harness it to make the lives of Americans better.
