What To Do With The Rendezvous Coffee Location
After Rendezvous, the restaurant that ran out of the front of Ross Hall, closed down at the end of the old Spring Semester, it has been sitting empty.
The Visitor Center office has moved in, creating extra noise in what could have been a nice group study area, despite the previous location in the union making much more sense.
The kitchen is there; to me, the solution is simple: we need a pizza-by-the-slice place.
This will provide additional meal options for kids on campus, bring in additional revenue to the university and de-crowd the union during rush time.
Pizza is a college kid staple, cheap for a good amount of calories. But when you’re just wanting a quick lunch, you don’t necessarily want an entire pizza.
This is where the genius comes in, you can just get one slice, or two if you’re hungry. New-York style, you just walk up to the counter, tell them what you want, and get your food within a matter of 30 seconds to a few minutes.
As far as I am aware, there is no pizza-by-the-slice place in Laramie. There are a few in Cheyenne, but that defeats the whole purpose of a quick, on-campus lunch option.
Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, and Einstein Bros are great but the only on-campus options other than the cafes, which close at 2 pm. On top of that, they’re not exactly the most wallet-friendly.
A slice of pizza should only cost at max $ 2.00, which would help the students’ wallets and bring non-students in to grab some food too. This could help bring in more money to the University.
The restaurant could be ran by the University, instead of bringing in a chain. In line with the criminal-like names of many Laramie restaurants (The Alibi, The Accomplise (rip), The Motive) the pizza place could be called “The Getaway.”
The Getaway would fill in the lunch and dinner options that the cafes lack, staying open late and maybe serving beer after 5 p.m., similar to Poke’s Pub.
The choice on what to do with Rendezvous is simple: kick out the Visitor Center and put in The Getaway.
