UW 2025-2026: Recapped

We are wrapping up the 2025-2026 school year! This is the Branding Iron’s penultimate paper for the year!

Dr. Ed Sidel serves his last year as President of the University of Wyoming and will be replaced by Brigadier General Reeves.

Paula Medina and Aiden McGuire served as President and Vice-President of ASUW respectively. Sam Kaiser and Ashlyn Elwood just won their race for President and Vice President.

The year was marked by crazy weather, even by the standards of Wyoming, with sunny days throughout the winter and on and off snow in spring.

Josh Allen visited us once again as we retired his jersey on Nov 22 and faced Nevada, ultimately losing the game but honoring one of the school’s most famous alumni.

The football season was not all downsides as we won the 117th iteration of border war 28-0.

The men’s basketball game continued this trend, winning their own border war although the women’s team did not have the same result.

Here at the Branding Iron, we estimate we have published 53 papers with over 300 stories although it is difficult to get an exact number. All this with a primary writing team of Mason Riding, sports editor; Morgan Harrignton, staff writer and photographer; Ava Junker, online editor; Carolina Boelter, staff writer, WyoWire broadcaster and writer; and Kinsington Dobler, assistant editor.

Charles Vaughters, our editor-in-chief and Lilian Jones, our copy editor also contribute to the paper frequently with stories and interesting columns.

Jeremiah Miller graduated after many years of working for the Branding Iron, covering sports and editing our online paper.

Our photography team consisted of Autumn McPhearson, working out of Cheyenne and Zach Agee who work under the direction of our visual editor, John Barker.

Our broadcast studio team ramped up the charge and stepped up the quality of their broadcast in their first full year of production.

We look forward to seeing you and keeping the pokes up-to-date next year!
