Cheyenne Frontier Days Set to Return July 17-26

The sound of bugles, the smell of pancakes cooking downtown, and the sight of cowboys and cowgirls making their way toward Frontier Park can only mean one thing: Cheyenne Frontier Days is almost here.

The 10-day celebration returns July 17-26, bringing together rodeo action, western heritage, concerts, parades and family activities that have made the event a summertime tradition for generations. Organizers bill the event as “The Daddy of ‘Em All,” a title earned through more than a century of rodeo competition and western celebration.

At the heart of the event is the PRCA ProRodeo, scheduled daily throughout the celebration. Contestants from across the country will compete in events ranging from bareback riding and saddle bronc riding to steer wrestling and barrel racing. The popular PRCA Xtreme Bulls competition returns July 20 and 21, showcasing some of the sport’s top bull riders and rankest bulls.

While the rodeo remains the centerpiece, Frontier Days offers much more than action inside the arena. The annual Grand Parade will travel through downtown Cheyenne on July 18, 21, 23 and 25, while free Pancake Breakfasts are scheduled for July 20, 22 and 24. Both events have become beloved traditions that draw residents and visitors alike.

Visitors can also explore the Morning Star American Indian Village, Old Frontier Town, carnival midway, chuckwagon events and a variety of exhibits highlighting western history and culture.

The entertainment lineup includes Frontier Nights concerts throughout the celebration, bringing nationally known performers to Cheyenne while complementing the rodeo’s western atmosphere.

For many attendees, however, Frontier Days is about more than a schedule of events. It is a gathering place where ranching traditions, rodeo heritage and community pride come together. Families return year after year, introducing new generations to customs that have helped define the West for more than a century.

As July continues, anticipation continues to build another edition of the celebration that transforms Cheyenne into the center of the western world, if only for 10 days.
