Laramie, Wy – The Wyoming Cowgirls are heading to Idaho this weekend to close out their non-conference slate with the Idaho State black and orange classic. The Cowgirls will face Boise State, Idaho State and closing the tournament out with Pacific. The Cowgirls are coming off of three sets sweep against longtime rival Colorado State.
The Cowgirls will kick off the tournament against Boise State who used to be a Mountain West rival. The Broncos are zero and two in neutral site matches this season. Some notable players for the Broncos are Sydney Dreves she leads the Broncos attack with ninety-five kills or 2.79%. Kendall Hastings leads the team with forty-eight total blocks. Melina Barlow leads the Broncos with 4.38 digs per set and twelve service aces. The Broncos are averaging 1.65 aces per set and 2.38 blocks per set. The Cowgirls and the Broncos have split the last two meetings of the season.
After the Broncos, the Cowgirls will play Idaho State. Idaho State is seven and two this season and this tournament will be their first home match of 2026. The team is averaging 2.44 blocks per set. Jayden watts has seventy-four kills and is hitting .343 this season. Maya Walsh is leading the team with seventy-seven kills. In the Bengals’ two-setter offense, Nora Waddoups leads with team with 6.45 assists per set while Kadence Marsh is averaging 5.42 per.
The last game of the tournament will be against Pacific, whose all four of its wins have come in neutral matches this season. Nicole Zake’s has been a pivotal part of their offense with ninety-five total kills this season. Ellie Prindl leads the Tigers with twenty-four total blocks while Isabel Gutierrez leads with 4.41 digs per set. As a team the Tigers are hitting .158 on the season.
While the Cowgirls will have to battle this weekend, the Cowgirls bring their own outstanding stats to the tournament. Wyoming’s team hitting percentage .201 an opponent hitting percentage .206 both ranked fifth in the Mountain West. The Cowgirls 2.16 blocks per set ranked third best in the conference. Individually Rya Fingerlin ranks seventh in the MW averaging 3.19 digs per set in 2026. Ruby Jensen (0.96) and Rylee Heinz (0.94) rank fifth and 10th, respectively, in the league in blocks per set this season.
