Conducted by Mark Soueidi, the Trombone Company played pieces by Bach, Haydn, Beethoven Vaclay Nelhybel and Jack Gale. The pieces were performed by ten trombone players.

Two single brass instruments, usually found in a mix of instrumentation, were featured solo to show the dynamic sound each one produces in rhythm. The blare of trumpets and the slides of trombones could be heard reverberating throughout the Buchman Concert Hall for the trumpet and trombone Concert Monday night. The concert displayed the University of Wyoming Trumpet Ensemble and Trombone Company. Starting off the concert was the UW Trumpet Ensemble, being conducted by Scott Meredith and George Schrader. Featuring different variations of the trumpet the arrangement of sound was evident throughout the concert hall. “I feel that the performance of the trumpet ensemble was amazing.

They have been getting better and better each year. I will also say that this is the deepest group we have had. I feel confident from top to bottom that all players are on the right path to excellence,” said Conductor Meredith. “I feel that the group really came together and played well with the fact that we have such a vast and varied skill level, from freshman to graduate student all working together.” The Trumpet Ensemble played various pieces of music that are fun to listen to and that help encourage success, as well as changeling the trumpet players said Meredith. After the UW Trumpet Ensemble finished playing, they walked off the stage and the UW Trombone Company replaced them.

The pieces were performed by ten trombone players. “Absolutely great performance, best we’ve ever played. I think were pretty solid as a group,” said Sophomore David Mayer, trombone player in the company. “I decided to join because I thought they really needed me and saw they were kind of lagging the previous year so I figured I’d step in.” This is the sixth year this concert has been exhibited at the university. Previously, there had not been any trumpet ensemble or trombone company.

It is continued to be organized by Scott Meredith and was originally started to help coincide with other on-campus concerts and groups. The next scheduled concert is the Faculty Recital Series with Guest Cellist Sam Ou Duo Recital with Chi-Chen Wu to be performed Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Buchman Concert Hall.
