UW plans listening session

Painter StoneStaff Writer

The University of Wyoming’s presidential search committee will be listening to UW community members at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.

This is the first of three listening sessions for the committee to gather feedback on the search process for UW’s next leader.

Of the two additional sessions planned, one will be on campus Sept. 24 and the other in Casper Sept. 25. All Listening Sessions can be accessed via Wyocast (Wyocast.uwyo.edu), for those who won’t be able to make the sessions.

The Board of Trustees plans to announce their semifinalists some time in December. They will be receiving input from a 16-member search committee who will forward them a list of candidates. The candidates must pass a majority vote with both the Board of Trustees as well as the search committee to be considered to be a semifinalist. The names of the applicants will be kept confidential until there are only three to five potential candidates left in the pool. When they have been selected as the finalists, the candidates’ identities will be released to the public. Candidates will be brought to campus for public forums around campus.

For additional comments regarding the next UW president, the Board of Trustees’ are accepting public input via email at trustees@uwyo.edu or in writing mail to: Presidential Search Committee, c/o Office of the President, 1000 E. University Ave., Laramie WY, 82071.
