Campus makerspace hosts pride crafts event

UW kicks off pride month with pride crafts at the Innovation Wyrkshop Makerspace.

On June 3, participants were encouraged to create arts and crafts that represented their pride for the LGBTQIA+ community.

“These events are great for getting the ball rolling,” a participant in this event, Cole Carpenter said.

The event featured crafts like 3D figure painting, jewelry making, key chain creating, and nail art painting.

There were plenty of free goodies, ranging from buttons to stickers to information about the other events happening this month relating to LGBTQIA+ community pride.

Senior Team Lead Victoria Evans feels that pride is about self-celebration. For them, It’s a reminder that members of the LGBTQIA+ community  are “still a person who is worthy of love.”

Carpenter said this event is a “celebration of overcoming adversity while acknowledging how far we need to go.”

The University of Wyoming is hosting free events during the month of June, the next being a movie night on June 10.
