Cowboys bounce back, take down Fresno State

The Wyoming Cowboys take down the Fresno State Bulldogs in blowout fashion, 85-62 for their second conference win of the year.

7-14 overall and 2-7 in conference is now the Pokes improved record, standing at 10th in the Mountain West. They have now jumped above the Colorado State Rams.

A serious shift has clearly occurred with this team, and it seems like the Cowboys we saw last year could make a comeback.

The Pokes would begin their battle with the Bulldogs with a 5-0 lead, and would eventually lead by a whopping 25 points in the first half.

They would command the lead for the entire game, as Fresno State was never able to top the Cowboys.

Hunter Thompson had a great outing, leading the team in points with 18, and picked up eight rebounds as well. He shot four three-pointers that were crucial in propelling the Cowboys to victory.

The team as a whole was great from beyond the arc, shooting 46.4% on three pointers.

The second half has consistently been a struggle for the Pokes all season, but they were able to hold their own this time.

Jeremiah Oden got himself a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds for the forward.

Oden got in a little bit of a scrum towards the end of the game, resulting in a technical foul for both him and a Fresno player.

Brendan Wenzel also joined the scuffle and eventually left the game early for reasons unknown.

The Cowboys had four different players with 12 or more points, and Fresno State did not have a single player to hit that mark.

Next stop is San Jose State, as the Pokes will take on the Spartans, on Saturday, Feb 4. They will look to keep climbing the standings, and stay in the win column.
