Kappa Kappa Gamma house disturbance

On Thursday, Sept. 28, the University of Wyoming Police Department (UWPD) responded to a student reported disturbance on Sorority Row, the subject of the disturbance being the Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) house.

UWPD was notified at 5:00 p.m. that flyers were being placed on local’s vehicles. The individuals placing the flyers were informed that posting flyers without the consent of the vehicle owners was a violation of city ordinance and promptly removed them.

The three individuals also placed more than 20 painted rocks around the property along with chalk messages on the sidewalk.

The rocks were collected by UWPD and passersby and treated as abandoned property.

Because the flyers were removed, the chalk writing did not permanently deface property, the rocks were collected and “individuals exercised their free speech rights,” no citations were issued.

One eye witness account recounts watching officers conduct themselves discreetly, observing the area by walking between cars and patrolling the perimeter of the KKG house.

Another anonymous tip given to the Branding Iron described the scene as a group of unknown individuals petitioning outside of the Washakie Dining Center and outwardly confronting students, including KKG members, and administration and conducting on-the-spot interviews with a microphone.

The individuals left the area around 5:40 p.m. and are believed to be from out of state.

Subsequently, on Friday Sept. 29, a post by Christina Goeke was seen on X (previously known as Twitter) showing herself and two other women “tagging” various areas of campus with stickers, putting up flyers, hiding painted rocks and writing messages across sidewalks.

Additionally, the video shows them putting up banners on an overpass fence after stating “We didn’t get to put up our banners around the school, so we’re driving home, disappointed, then we saw this chain link fence and said ‘Let’s just do it.’”

A followup investigation of the activities seen in the video post revealed that most, if not all, evidence has been removed, likely by UWPD.
