Cowgirls Fall to Rams in Border War Battle

The Cowgirls were met with a challenge from the start as the Rams started the first set with a 7-0 run before the Cowgirls called a timeout. The Cowgirls were able to get on the board following the timeout, but that was not enough for them to catch up with the Rams. The Rams finished the first set with 18 kills to UW 13 and had 2 aces to win 25-18.

Going into set 2, there was still hope in the room that the Cowgirls could pull something off. The second set was closer with more back-to-back points, and Wyoming did take the lead a couple of times, but it was not enough to win the set. The Cowgirls lost the set 25-14 but were better defensively holding Rams to only 13 kills this set.

The third set was a battle until it was not. Wyoming was able to start the set with the lead and played well for most of the set. The Cowgirls made the Rams work their points while finding success on offense, and then it all turned out. CSU took control of the set, and that was all she wrote. The Rams finished the third set with 18 kills and four blocks on their way to a 25-15 victory.

The Cowgirls finished the UniWyo Invite 1-2, putting them at 4-3 on the season. Wyoming is off until next Thursday, when the Cowgirls travel to the Idaho State Tournament to take on Boise State, Idaho State and Pacific.
