Club Hockey

The Wyoming Club Hockey team was able to beat Colorado State Rams on Friday, Oct. 20 in Laramie. Wyoming would win the game 7-4.

CSU would strike first with a goal by Devon Heywood at 10:40 in the first period. Alec MacDougal would respond for Wyoming at 15:29. Dan Franks and Brandon Dewar would assist on the play. Wyoming and CSU would end the period in a tie.

At 4:08 in the second period Wyoming’s Blake Baer would score with an assist from Dewar. Wyoming would take a 2-1 lead. CSU would tie it back up at 12:18 with a goal from Haywood. He would be assisted by Ben Barrett and Adam Anderson. Wyoming would gain a two-goal lead thanks to goals by Dewar at 14:45 and Baer at 16:14. Dewar would be assisted by Mark Kunitz while Baer was unassisted. CSU would cut the lead down to one at 18:21 thanks to a goal by Nathan Morris. Dmitri Smith and Anderson would assist on the play,

CSU would tie the game back up at 4-4 thanks to a goal by Morris off of assists by Joseph Power and Oleg Hayduk. From this point on Wyoming would score the next three goals to secure a victory over CSU. Franks would score at 9:23 off of assists by Kunitz and MacDougall. Wyoming would only take 12 seconds to score their next goal. Cambell MacKay would score off of assists by Baer and Kuhwarn Dhaliwal. Wyoming would score their final goal at 19:20 in the third period. MacDougall would score the goal off of an assist by Kunitz.

Wyoming goalie Samuel Mallory saw 50 shots come his way and he was able to save 46 of them.

CSU goalie Ted Bunton had 26 shots come at him and he was only able to save 20 of them.

Wyoming is going on the road for the next three games, all will be against California schools. Wyoming will face California State Northridge for a two-game series and then face California State Fullerton for one game.

Men’s Rugby

Wyoming Men’s Rugby team went up against Texas Tech this past weekend. Wyoming lost to Texas Tech by a score of 14-22. Wyoming had two players with tries this past weekend, they were club president Sutton Willis and Max Berry. Both conversions were made by Colton Wostenburg.

Wyoming will be at home for homecoming at 10 a.m. on Oct. 28 at the East Fraternity Mall rugby fields.
